There is a that question on which humidifier to get. What is the difference between the cool mist or a warm mist humidifiers? It is important to note that they both will do the job they are required to do. It will also depend on what you are going to use it for. Recently doctors have been recommending the cool mist humidifier for children because of the danger that warm mist humidifiers can cause. Because the steam is hot if the baby or a child gets too close to it, the child can hurt himself of herself. Also, it is important to keep in mind that warm mist actually use more electricity because it takes time to warm the water to produce steam. However, with cool mist humidifiers you will have to distilled water and change the filter once a year. But either one you use, you will have to keep them clean so they don't cause bacteria and mold. If you suffer from sinuses and do not have small children, you may be better off with using the warm mist. My sinuses tend to hurt a lot more if the air is cool. That is personal preference, but I know a lot of people have that same issue. Again, it is important to note that either one you use, they will have the same effect. No matter which humidifier you get, you should make sure that it has the built in humidistat. The reason is that if a humidifier keeps on running to the point where the water starts dripping from the walls, you are putting yourself in danger of having mold grow in. I would also look for the one with the automatic shut off when the water level is empty. As mentioned before, either the cool mist humidifier or the warm mist humidifiers will do a the job they are intended for but depending on your situations you need to find the one that works for you!
